About Us

Who are we

Access Care is Bermuda's first synchronous and integrated telemedicine solution focused on improving the connection between patients and healthcare providers.

Our mission is to provide affordable, equitable and quality healthcare to Bermuda, through an innovative digital channel, which allows patients to break access barriers and receive adequate and reliable primary care.

About telemedicine

Telemedicine encompasses every type of technology that enables patient management as well as delivery systems that extend capacity and access to healthcare.

Covered by Medicare and Medicaid in the US, as well as by most European countries, telemedicine is therefore a common method of healthcare delivery in western countries. According to a 2018 JAMA study, annual telemedicine visits have increased at an average annual compound growth rate of 52% from 2005 to 2014.

In the United States, 76% of U.S. hospitals connect with patients and consulting practitioners using video and other technology, and a study performed by NGBH revealed that virtually all (96%) of the nation’s large employers will provide medical coverage for telehealth in 2019.

Safety

Data from a 2018 survey of healthcare providers by Deloitte found that telehealth can improve patient experience, an important factor in quality care.

Nine out of ten physicians see the benefits of virtual care, especially regarding patient experience – access to care, patient satisfaction, and improved communication with the care team being the main benefits.
